Oktoberfest 2007


Join hundreds of BMW CCA members for the club’s annual gathering, in Fort Worth, Texas, from Sunday, Sept. 30 through Friday, Oct. 5. Downtown Fort Worth is the hub for six days of driving events, touring, technical gatherings, and socializing: driving school and autocross Monday and Tuesday, gymkhana and Street Survival Wednesday, rally Thursday, concours Friday, and awards banquet Friday night. There is also a fun rally and photo contest that can be done anytime during the week. Early arrivals can see a two-day BMW CCA club race Saturday and Sunday, Sep. 30- Oct 1.

Hungry for good food? Evening meals or receptions with hors douvres are provided Sunday through Friday (Thursday excepted). Wednesday is a motorsport dinner and barbecue at Billy Bobs Texas and transportation is provided, so drink up (unless you are riding the mechanical bull). Thursday may be the best day for exploring or running the fun rally; it’s pretty much free after your finish the timed (TSD) rally. Yokohama Driving School

Enhance your driving skills in the annual Oktoberfest Driving School, held Monday and Tuesday (one-day schools) at Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, 35 miles southwest. As always, the BMW CCA Driving School mission remains to benefit you in your normal day-to-day driving, especially when confronted with emergency situations, while learning on some of the countrys most famous road courses. Bridgestone Autocross

The Oktoberfest autocross runs Monday and Tuesday. Drivers compete one day only, allowing them to take part in the driving school, which also runs Monday and Tuesday. An autocross is a timed competition a race against the clock through pylons (traffic cones) on a temporary course, often a big, open parking lot, rather than racing on a track with other cars. Dunlop Direzza Z1 Gymkhana

One of the most enjoyable Oktoberfest events to watch and to take part in. Think autocross without the speed and tire noise but still run against a stopwatch. Rally

Rallies test the ability of driver and passenger to follow a detailed (organizers say) and sometimes tricky (participants often say) set of instructions while modulating the cars speed to match the route instructions. Unlike professional rallies, on the Oktoberfest rally the roads remain open to other traffic and there is no racing or speeding. [Read More]

Street Survival

Street Survival provides younger drivers with hands-on driving experience in real-world situations (albeit on a closed course, in this case the LaGrave Field parking lot of the Fort Worth Cats downtown). Street Survivial uses the drivers own car to teach drivers about handling limits and how to control your car and yourself. [Read More]

Concours

The Oktoberfest Concours d Elegance gives members a chance to show off their skill at cleaning and detailing their cars, especially those who have also taken part in track and driving events Monday through Thursday. The Oktoberfest Photo Contest is a display of the creative work of our members and a documentation of activities involving BMWs.in five categories. See the fine print below.
